Romance & Roses

Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. Come walk through pathways covered in roses while you hear tales of love in years gone-by. Costumed docents and actors will tell about how couples met and how they died, and recount legends about roses, the symbol of love. Bring somebody you love, breathe in the perfume of the roses around you, and enjoy a lovely evening in our award-winning Historic Rose Garden in the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery. 1000 Broadway, Sacramento, CA 95818.

Run Rocklin continues commitment to raise funds for community nonprofits

Thousands of runners and walkers will once again be participating in the morning trek through the city streets at the 15th annual Run Rocklin, held Sunday morning, April 8 at Johnson-Springview Park.

A well-supported local event, Run Rocklin continues to evolve, yet all prices remain the same with no increases right up to race day. And there is also no additional service charge fee.

The Matt Redding Memorial Foundation presents Run Rocklin, a charity event that last year drew nearly 3,000 participants. This will be the 12th year that Run Rocklin has benefited the Matt Redding Foundation and also several law enforcement-related organizations. Run Rocklin raised approximately $23,000 in 2017.

The Jessup Athletic Association will host the second annual TopSwing Fundraising event – a fun gathering, providing golf, games, food, beverages, prizes and awards – on Sunday, April 8 at Topgolf entertainment complex in Roseville.

TopSwing takes place from 4-8 p.m. and is a unique fundraising event for William Jessup University Athletics that is designed for both golfers and non-golfers. No golf skills are necessary.

TopSwing is open to the public for both sponsorship and participation. All proceeds raised at the event will go directly to support William Jessup University athletic programs with scholarships, improved team facilities, and help reduce student debt.

The Jessup Athletic Association is the booster organization created to provide opportunities for donors to partner and engage with Jessup athletics. More than 260 William Jessup student-athletes are competing in the Golden State Athletic Conference in both men and women’s sports.

As part of a multi-state Salute to Military tour and in collaboration with UPVETS -- a Union Pacific employee resource group dedicated to veterans –- Union Pacific, California State Parks and the California State Railroad Museum & Foundation are proud to pay tribute to the United States armed forces by showcasing the newly unveiled UP No.1943  locomotive on Wednesday, November 29 at 10 a.m. that will include a brief ceremony and community celebration.  The locomotive will be on display outdoors on the Railroad Museum's turntable located on very west end of Museum nearest Sacramento Southern Railroad tracks in Old Sacramento State Historic Park Railroad (behind the Sacramento History Museum).
