Ammonia leak prompts evacuations


An ammonia leak in a cold storage plant prompted evacuations at around 7 p.m. Saturday night. 

The Sacramento Fire Department said the leak happened at 3100 52nd avenue. A nearby mobile home park was evacuated for some time.

Firefighters were able to stop the lead and determined air levels were safe. Residents were allowed back into their homes at around 8 p.m.

HomeTown Buffet, and dozens of other restaurants, abruptly closed Thursday. The popular buffet restaurant was located across the United States including Northern California.

In a statement from Food Management Partners (FMP), the restaurant's parent company, 74 under-performing Old Country Buffet, HomeTown Buffet, Ryan's, Fire Mountain and Country Buffet restaurants throughout the United States were permanently closed Thursday.

Sacramento police find missing person in wheelchair

UPDATE: Sacramento police tweeted that the man had been found safe. 

Sacramento police tweeted Monday that they need help finding a 22-year-old man in a wheelchair.

The department said they are looking for Jonah Huddleston, who was last seen in the 700 block of Marsh Street off of Broadway.

Huddleston was last seen wearing a maroon sweatshirt, gray pants and had red hair, brown eyes and a goatee.
