Six people injured in North Highlands car accident


 

Six people are being treated after two cars collided on Watt Avenue and Peacekeeper Way on Friday night. 

Police said the accident happened at around 9 p.m. and involved a Honda Civic and a Ford Explorer.

All 6 people were taken to the hospital, 4 with serious injuries. One person is believed to have life-threatening injuries. 

It is unknown if weather was a factor in the accident. 

 


Sacramento man accused of terror link enters plea


A Sacramento man linked to international terrorism pleaded not guilty in federal court Friday. Aws Al-Jayab faces charges for allegedly making false statements involving international terrorism.The attorney for Al-Jayab also asked the judge to release his client from solitary confinement.

Al-Jayab has been in solitary at the Sacramento County jail since his arrest two weeks ago. His attorney pleaded with the judge, and said being in solitary was taking a toll on Al-Jayab. The judge said it would be up to corrections officers whether or not Al-Jayab is held in solitary.  

City council meeting ends with protests over homeless ordinance


 

The Sacramento City Council meeting was cut short on Tuesday night, causing the public to erupt in protest inside the chambers and ask for vice mayor Rick Jennings’ recall.

The council was being confronted for the arrests of homeless protesters in front of City Hall.

Three injured, two dogs dead in Arden apartment fire


 

Three people were injured and two dogs were killed in an apartment fire in the Arden area on Tuesday. 

Metro Fire said the fire started in the kitchen of a downstairs unit in a complex in the 2500 block of Wittkop Way.

Two people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, and the other was treated for a twisted ankle.

CHP investigates I-5 hit and run near Florin Road


California Highway Patrol is investigating a hit and run on Interstate 5 that caused a truck to crash off the road and overturn. 

According to CHP's spokesperson officer Michael Bradley, the accident occurred at 1:37 p.m. on the I-5 southbound lanes near Florin Road.
