Cinemark Century Theater in Arden-Arcade to close until fall


The domed movie theater in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area will close after its last movie screening on Monday. A new complex in the same location is set to be complete late fall. 

The last movie to screen at the domed theater will be 'Joy' at 10:45 p.m.

 


Sacramento man arrested in his mom's death by head trauma


A man was arrested on Saturday for assaulting his 88-year-old mother during an argument, which led to her death. 

The Sacramento Sheriff's Department was called to the home on Mullholland Way in Arden Arcade a little after 7 p.m. for a reported assault.  

Sheriff's deputies found the victim inside the home with major head trauma. The Sacramento Metro Fire Department then took her to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. 

Deputies found the victim's 55-year-old son Karl Raymond Hutton also inside the home.

After an investigation, detectives learned Hutton assaulted his mother during an argument and injuries from that assault caused her death.

Hutton was booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on the charge of murder and he is not eligible for bail. He will be arraigned in Sacramento Superior County on Wednesday. 

Man dead after I-5 crash


 

A man was killed on Interstate 5 early Saturday morning after his truck crashed into the center divider.

The California Highway Patrol said the man was driving 60-65 miles per hour on I-5 near P Street when he made a hard left turn across traffic and hit the wall. There is no evidence the man tried to brake. 

The man died at the scene. 

I-5 northbound was closed for four hours because of debris and a hazardous material spill. It is not known if those two incidents are connected.

CHP said it is not known if drugs or alcohol were involved at this time.  


Suspect in deputy shootings ruled competent to stand trial


A man accused of going on a multi-county shooting spree, which ended with two sheriff's deputies dead and two others injured, is competent to stand trial. At a hearing Friday morning, a judge ruled Luis Bracamontes is fit to stand trial.

Bracamontes' wife Janelle Monroy, and alleged accomplice in the October 2014 crime spree, pleaded not guilty at the Friday hearing. Both will be back in court March 28.

Matia Divac, son of Kings vice president, arrested on suspicion of DUI


 

The son of Sacramento Kings Vice President Vlade Divac was arrested on Thursday for suspicion of driving under the influence. 

Matia Divac, 21, was driving a 2015 Tesla when he was pulled over by a South Sacramento CHP officer at around 1:30 a.m. on Capitol Avenue for a traffic violation. The officer believed Matia displayed symptoms of driving while drinking, and arrested him without incident. 

Matia was booked into jail. No preliminary alcohol results are available at this time. 

 

Vlade Divac's son arrested on DUI charges


The 21-year-old son of Vlade Divac has been arrested.

Matia Alexander Divac was arrested early Thursday and charged with DUI, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

Matia is currently being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail.

Two families displaced in apartment fire


 

An apartment fire broke out in a building in Sacramento Wednesday night. 

Sacramento firefighters arrived to the 100 block of Seavey Circle at around 9:30 p.m. They said the fire broke out in an upstairs unit.

Two units were damaged in the flames, and two families are currently displaced. 

No injuries were reported.
