The Law Enforcement Chaplaincy-Sacramento (LEC-S), as First Responders, participated as a team, numbering 28 Chaplains training in this CERT Disaster Preparedness which is equipping LEC-S to become Certified Level Three Members who will be called at anytime to serve in aiding victims in the midst of any disaster.  As training continues, all Chaplains within Law Enforcement Chaplaincy-Sacramento will be Level 3 Certified CERT responders.

The LEC-S First Responders/Chaplains “are called out by officers to attend to our community, such as to attend family members, classmates, neighbors and co-workers when they have been victimized, suffered serious injury, or have been traumatized by the death of a loved one.”  Source:  LEC-S.

Thank you, First Responders, LEC-S – our community’s need for you grows closer to our hearts every minute, as you are on-call to support our community – you are there 24-7-365, as volunteers, whose greatest mission is to support all who are victims…given any crisis.

Of note,  as a member of your neighborhood during a disaster, “using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members (you)  (Level 1–with your training at this drill) can assist others in your neighborhood or workplace during a disaster until professional responders have arrived.

CERT members are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community."  Source:  Website, CERT.

Through CERT, our community is given an opportunity to come together, as we realize we need to know how to take care of ourselves, our family, our neighbors, and our community.  This is a time to stand up, be counted and make a commitment to be informed, trained and ‘be there.’  We, as a whole, will save lives…including our own!

FEMA offers free online courses for your continuing education to become Level 2 CERT trained.

Our Firefighters, Law Enforcement, Search and Rescue, Red Cross, Law Enforcement Chaplaincy-Sacramento as well as many other agencies cannot reach every member in our community who is needing immediate attention...YOU, however, can be there!
