Photo Gallery | Our Very Own Lupe Gutierrez of Arden-Arcade Wins the Gold Medal!

Arden-Arcade Community's very own Lupe Gutierrez walks or shall we say boxed herself away holding the Gold Medal from the Junior Boxing Nationals held last week in Reno, Nevada.  As she won her Gold Medal she has the right to compete in Taiwan as part of the USA Team!  You get 'em girl!  We are all behind you.

Congratulations, Suray Mahmutovic, who won the Bronze Medal!  Nice win!  Great job!  We're proud of you!!

A very special thank you, Sheriff's Community Impact Program,  for your dedication to our youth and promoting great successes as you host so many programs that encourage the youth of Arden-Arcade Community to succeed.

To recap this story as it unfolded, please read the article published:

Our very own Arden Arcade youth, who have trained hard with volunteer coaches and Sacramento Sheriff Deputy Miguel Arias, with training held at a donated room at Thomas Edison Language Institute on Hurley Way, comprise the Impact Boxing team which will be competing in Reno this week for the USA Boxing Junior Open & Youth Nationals.  Sacramento Sheriffs Impact Program (SCIP) is proud to have produced 3 nationally ranked boxers:

Lupe Gutierrez (132lbs)

Suray Mahmutovic (178lbs)

Amisael Jimenez (165lbs)

Lupe, 15 years old, won her first national title last summer and is a strong contender to make team USA, competing in international matches in 2015 – a rare opportunity for a girl from this low-income area in Sacramento.

No matter the outcome, this is simply a terrific experience for these kids from Arden Arcade.

Impact boxing gives 26 boys and girls, aged 7 to 17, a wonderful opportunity to learn skills in agility, reacting under pressure, sportsmanship and physical training!

Sheriffs Community Impact Program wishes these young student Olympians the very best, as they will compete in the USA youth boxing tournament in Reno! Go Get ‘Em!!!

***The Sheriff’s Community Impact Program (SCIP) garners strength from the many people who have decided to join us in creating dynamic programs for the youth in Arden-Arcade Community.  We are seeking OTHERS who would like to contribute time and/or funding to help our mission and the students we serve.
